ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The U12 program allows athletes to continue to develop basic ski techniques and skills, safety. and teamwork. Competition remains fun but becomes more intense. In addition to club and zone races, athletes have an opportunity to participate in provincial competitions.

An emphasis on the fundamental principles of training, which can be applied universally to all sports. Technical skills are consolidated while having fun participating in a variety of training and racing environments.

Enjoyment of the sport and the mountain environment remains a key focus of the program. Individual progress, camaraderie, and fair play are some of the other objectives.

Who can Participate?
Children aged 10 & 11 (as of December 31st of the current year)

Where do they train?
All in-town training will be at Edmonton Ski Club with camps and races in the Edmonton area and the mountains.

Volunteerism

The success of ESC Alpine is dependent on the participation and contributions of member volunteers. Volunteering fosters a sense of community, and has a direct and positive impact on our athletes and the Club as a whole.

u12 - Learn to Train

FULL PROGRAM, $1330.00 — 8 H0uRS OF TRAINING PER WEEK

This program includes three training sessions per week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.

LITE PROGRAM, $1070.00 — 6 HouRS OF TRAINING PER WEEK

This program includes two training sessions per week on Tuesday & Sunday or Thursday & Sunday.

Dryland

Dryland training emphasizes comprehensive physical preparation through a variety of activities and sports, and provides an excellent environment for team-building. The program takes place indoors in Tuesday and Thursday evenings from early September through to the start of on-snow training. Sunday morning sessions will run outdoors while the weather permits. Specific locations and activities will be announced closer to the start of the program.

What other costs should you expect this season?

Costs vary per member, racer and family, but there should be a consideration for things like:

  • Racer equipment (e.g., skis, helmet, gloves/mittens, boots, socks, outerwear, underlayers, goggles)

  • Mountain Camps (e.g., Transportation to/from, accommodations, meals, lift tickets)

  • Races (e.g., entry fees)

  • Edmonton Ski Club (e.g., season pass for skiers, boot pass for non-skiers)
