ESC Alpine offers a blended U14/U16/U18+ program providing athletes the ability to choose the intensity of training that they desire, both locally and/or in the mountains.
Training takes place locally at Sunridge, with regular mountain camps and events. Athletes choose their level of involvement based on their individual goals and abilities.
The focus of U14 remains on the FUNdamentals of training, development, and introduction to competition. In this level athletes progress from the skiers essentials stage of AIM through the learning to train stage and eventually into the learning to race stage. Learning experiences are enhanced with extensive use of free skiing and specifically designed training environments. The more formalized racing and team travel also enhance the learning of critical life skills such as time management, working as a member of a team, proper nutrition, being responsible for yourself.
U16s and U18s are well-versed at competition. They are athletes in the learning-to-race stage of AIM. Learning experiences are enhanced at this level through free skiing, gate environments, video review, and timing.
Dry land/physical training begins the first week of September. On snow training begins in November (depending on snow conditions). Training is available on Monday, Wednesday and Sundays as well as numerous mountain camps and events.
